Invisible Skin, 2023, Installation
A reactive installation that subtly engages the viewer to take a peek at the life of plants beneath the surface.
Synopsis
The consequences of industrialization caused a rift in the human relationship with living species and the environment surrounding them. The use of cement in urban spaces restricts the communication of plants with the broader ecosystem. And more critically, acts as a barrier between the human and the natural. This creates a tension and contrast between the organic and the inanimate. Since plants embody feelings and are reactive to each other and the presence of other beings, this project asks us to revisit our understanding of intelligence and consciousness.
